His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Government of Somalia, signed the establishment law of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) and the immigration law, both of which had previously passed the Somali parliament. Speakers of the Houses of Parliament were present at the signing event, which took place in Villa Somalia.
In his remarks, the President conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Members of Parliament for their diligent adoption of these laws. He said “that these new laws will ensure the ICA and the immigration of Somalia are in line with global present-day immigration systems and serve as its foundation.”
In addition, the President extended his gratitude to the Somali cabinet ministers and other experts whose work was fundamental in the development and finalisation of these laws. “Their knowledge and devotion were critical in achieving this significant milestone.” President Mohamud, added.
The approval and signing of these acts would undoubtedly increase the authority and transparency of the Somali immigration and citizenship systems.
